Before these developments, the broader area experienced significant seismic shifts, specifically a historic earthquake that struck the vicinity in 1858. The transformation of this land from agricultural apricot orchards to a residential community was largely compressed into the three decades between 1950 and 1980. Today, the city maintains strict zoning laws to ensure that commercial activity remains concentrated in specific corridors, leaving the rest of the neighborhood to quiet residential life.
